How to Unlock Build Components
Some items in this Apprentice Newcomer Apprentice - Russian Roulette build require unlocking before they can be used. Note that items listed in "Avoid" sections are also shown here - check the build details to see if unlocking them is necessary for this strategy.
Build
Apprentice gains DPS every level up and get less max HP. Apprentice can be hard due to -2 HP per level which hard to counter balance. The common error on this character is to try to get it to a decent HP pool in case of a mistake. But the reality is that going this route multiply the risks as you won't kill ennemies and they'll shoot more, charge, and for stronger ennemies, still kill you in one or two hits anyway. So just accept any mistake is death, and embrace the power to one shot almost everything to nullify all charging ennemies, and minimize the red bullets by annihilation. Some items might need some unlock, but apprentice is doable even without those. The focus is to pick SMG as it shoots fast and will kill anything getting close to you before it reaches you, and build up on getting to the point anything dies as it is touched by your bullets. For higher difficulties, you might need one kind of AOE, be it ricochet, piercing or even the Rip and Tear which will scale on your +2 melee damage per level up.
Wave 1-5
Focus on getting 6 SMG 6 SMG will give you the range for now, and build up on Dodge for survival in case of getting hit and critical chance for your best upgrade damage option. Avoid HP, HP regen, armor, life steal, you won't need them. Be wary of elephants alien, which can throw at this stage a lot of red ball and likely kill you in one or two hit, you will one shot them in the future. If you play on a higher difficulty, reroll if you get boss early wave, better to have hordes. Get sharp bullet if you get it at these stages and pickup pumpkin, only in higher difficulty. Gentle alien for economy, damage boost, and more level up !

Wave 6-12
Don't forget to grab a piercing item, bandana if you build some luck, or the sharp bullet if you missed it. Also if you get the peacock, keep it for wave 9. Must have is the tardigrade as it is like a 100% dodge and makes you able to tank a bullet and must have against boss that you won't one shot. Build up on critical chance with sunglasses, or dodge with gambling token. On stats once you capped dodge, you can pick critical damage or ranged damage or %damage, whichever will grant you the best outcome. I recommend picking in the order said. Upgrade your SMG. Items to avoid are anything increasing defensive stats (but dodge), using defensive mechanics like Riposte, or healing. Avoid celery tea as it's too dangerous. You will most likely one shot most easy mobs, and two shots mots big mobs. In the map the only things that can harm you are red bullet shot by ennemies afar, so focus on eliminating them ASAP. Elephant shouldn't be a threat anymore, as they die in one or two bullet. Hunting trophy for economy boost.

Wave 13-19
This part is about getting your SMG red tier (better scale with your range damage). Maximise critical chance and other damage source, and pick up either %damage or ranged damage depending what you got. Tardigrade is still a must no matter what. In higher difficulty, it's an absolute important thing to get any kind of AOE damage, be it piercing, ricochet, baby with beard, rip and tear, in that order. Don't spend in getting minigun or any other weapon, and just spend in whatever increase your survivability (dodge if not maxed, tardigrade) or your DPS. Build some luck so you likely get tardigrade if you didn't. You can absolutely get any item that normally are risky, like Glass cannon or triangle of power, any range when you get confortable with your damage output and silver bullet for the boss wave incoming.

Boss handling
The boss part can be a bit tricky. If you get tardigrade and dodge, you can most likely survive one or two hit. Absolutely dodge any physical contact with the boss as the hit rate on contact is high and you most likely die if you get one second inside the boss. Prefer even getting hit by a red bullet instead. You will most likely end the fight in seconds but you might endure around 2 to 5 attacks from the boss. Be close to the boss to ensure all hits get to it so you can claim your win.
