Brotato Mage Build Guide
Mage Build & Strategien
Is Mage good in Brotato?
Mage is a strong elemental specialist that shines with burning and elemental damage scaling, but struggles with non-elemental weapons and can feel fragile without good defenses.
Strengths
- Huge scaling from Elemental Damage thanks to increased modification bonus
- Starts with Snake and Scared Sausage, enabling burning synergies from wave 1
- Excellent at clearing big waves once burn and AoE are online
- Works very well with a wide variety of elemental weapons and burn-enabling items
Weaknesses
- Melee Damage and Ranged Damage are effectively unusable due to -100% modifications
- Engineering scaling is heavily reduced, making turret/structure builds inefficient
- Needs specific elemental items to reach full potential
- Can be vulnerable on higher waves without enough armor, HP regeneration or sustain
Mage Stats & Passive Ability
Mage is designed to play almost purely around elemental damage and burning effects. With Elemental Damage modifications being increased by 25%, every point of elemental scaling is worth more than usual, making items like Fuel Tank, Energy Bracelet and Ice Cube especially valuable. Starting with both Snake and Scared Sausage means your hits apply burn and spread it to additional enemies right from the beginning, so you want as many fast-hitting elemental weapons as possible. Because Melee Damage and Ranged Damage modifiers are reduced by 100% and Engineering is halved, non-elemental and structure-based builds are very weak on Mage. Focus your level-ups and shops almost exclusively on Elemental Damage, Attack Speed and enough defense to survive while your burns and AoE clear the screen.

Strategy
๐ฑEarly Game
Rush a full board of Tasers and leverage your starting Snake and Scared Sausage to burn and slow everything on screen. Prioritize Elemental Damage and Attack Speed on level-ups and pick up more copies of Snake and Scared Sausage when they appear. Building some Harvesting early helps your economy snowball so you can afford upgrades quickly.
โกMid Game
Once you have six Tasers online, start upgrading them to blue or higher rarity and stack more elemental multipliers. Ice Cube and Eyes Surgery greatly amplify your control and burst by making enemies take more damage on first elemental hit and speeding up burning ticks. Keep pushing Elemental Damage, Attack Speed and Luck so you can consistently roll into the key elemental items you need.
๐ฅLate Game & Endless Scaling
In late waves and Endless, focus on penetration and safety so your Tasers and burns can keep up with dense packs of enemies. Sharp Bullet helps your projectiles hit more targets, while extra defensive stats like armor, HP and sustain keep you alive while enemies are slowed and burning. With high-tier Tasers and stacked elemental items, you can comfortably kite and let slows plus burns shred everything on screen.
Best weapons for Mage
Taser is the core Endless build weapon for Mage: it applies elemental hits frequently, synergizes with burning items like Snake and Scared Sausage, and its slowing field keeps enemies grouped and controlled while burns tick them down.
Wand offers reliable burning damage from range and works perfectly with Mageโs boosted elemental scaling, making it a strong starting weapon and a solid part of any burn-focused setup.
Flamethrower constantly applies burn to huge groups of enemies and pierces almost infinitely, turning Mageโs elemental bonuses into massive screen-wide damage over time.
Lightning Shiv chains hits between enemies, giving Mage many elemental procs and helping spread burns and on-hit effects while clearing clustered packs efficiently.
Torch is an excellent early-game elemental weapon for Mage, stacking burn and spreading it, then later being replaced by stronger AoE options once your burn engine is online.
Best items for Mage (core item pool)
Scared Sausage guarantees frequent burning procs on hit, perfectly matching Mageโs elemental scaling and starting kit while enabling every elemental weapon to apply strong damage over time.
Snake spreads burning to more enemies, multiplying the value of each burn and turning Mageโs already strong elemental damage into full-screen wave clear.
Ice Cube amplifies the first elemental hit on each enemy, making every Taser shot, Flamethrower sweep or Wand bolt significantly more impactful for Mage.
By speeding up burning ticks and adding flat Elemental Damage, Eyes Surgery makes Mageโs burns kill faster and further increases the benefit of stacking elemental stats.
Fuel Tank provides a large chunk of raw Elemental Damage, which is extra effective on Mage thanks to his bonus to elemental modifiers, while its melee and ranged penalties are irrelevant.
Energy Bracelet adds Elemental Damage and some crit while reducing Ranged Damage, a stat Mage doesnโt use, making it an efficient offensive pickup.
Rip and Tear adds explosive on-death effects that synergize with screen-wide burning, causing chains of explosions as burned enemies die across the map.
Bandana lets projectile-based elemental weapons like Wand and Lightning Shiv hit more targets per shot, spreading burns and on-hit effects through enemy lines.
Sharp Bullet adds extra pierce so projectiles from weapons like Taser can hit more enemies, helping spread elemental effects even further in dense waves.
Greek Fire dramatically boosts the percentage damage of burns, making Mageโs many burning effects scale well into high-HP waves and elites.
Tentacle offers a nice mix of crit and sustain, giving Mage extra healing in busy waves when combined with high hit counts from elemental weapons.
Torture provides huge passive regeneration and max HP, turning a fragile elemental glass cannon Mage into a tanky burn engine for high-difficulty waves.
Mage Danger 5 Strategy
Early Game
In early Danger 5 waves, stay mobile and rely on your starting Snake and Scared Sausage to burn enemies while you build up elemental weapons. Prioritize Elemental Damage, Attack Speed and a little Harvesting, and pick up early tools like Torch, Wand, Taser or Lightning Shiv to apply burns consistently.
Mid Game
During mid game, transition into stronger AoE elemental weapons like Flamethrower while upgrading your existing Wands or Tasers. Stack key items such as Fuel Tank, Ice Cube, Eyes Surgery and additional Snakes or Scared Sausages so burns spread quickly and hit hard. Begin investing in Armor and HP Regeneration so you can safely fight elites and dense waves.
Late Game
In late Danger 5 waves and the boss fight, you should have several high-tier elemental weapons and a strong core of burning synergy items. Add survivability pieces like Torture or other sustain, and consider pierce tools such as Bandana or Sharp Bullet to ensure your projectiles hit entire packs. Focus on kiting around the map, letting slows, burns and explosions clear enemies while you avoid telegraphed hits.
๐ก Mage handles Danger 5 best by committing fully to elemental damage, burn application and wave-wide coverage. Start with small, fast elemental weapons to get burns rolling, then transition into Flamethrowers or fully-upgraded Tasers or Wands backed by a stack of burning synergy items. Round out the build with enough armor, HP and regeneration to comfortably survive while your elemental damage clears the screen.
