Brotato Life Steal

Each attack has a chance to heal you for 1 HP. Capped at 10 HP per second.

Effect

Your attacks have x% chance to heal you for 1 HP per hit.

Limit

Can only trigger once every 0.1 seconds → maximum 10 HP per second.

Negative

Subtracts from each weapon's base life steal chance, minimum 0%.

What does Life Steal do in Brotato?

Life Steal is the third pillar of healing in Brotato (next to HP Regen and Consumables). Each successful hit has an x% chance to restore 1 HP. The character's Life Steal is added to each weapon's own life steal independently. There's a hard internal cap of one heal every 0.1 seconds, which translates into a maximum of 10 HP per second – this means high attack-speed builds with shotguns or SMGs hit the cap with much less Life Steal stat than slow, single-projectile weapons.

Life Steal Mechanics & Edge Cases

  • Extra projectiles, pierces and bounces all roll life steal individually – Baby with a Beard and shotgun spread weapons proc much more often than single-shot rifles.
  • Explosions, burning, turrets, Cyberball, Baby Elephant and other indirect damage do NOT trigger life steal.
  • Rocket Launcher type weapons only proc life steal on the main projectile, NOT on the AoE blast.
  • Medical class weapons have innate Life Steal; Blade class adds Life Steal in its set bonus.
  • Negative Life Steal subtracts from each weapon's base chance (minimum 0).

Life Steal Tips & Strategy

Tip 1: Stack life steal on Vampire and Sick – Vampire's per-level mechanic snowballs hard.
Tip 2: Shotguns + Bandana / Sharp Bullet make life steal trigger on every pellet, often hitting the 10 HP/s cap with less stat than you'd expect.
Tip 3: On Blade-class builds, base life steal from the set bonus often makes pure life steal items redundant – use the slot for damage instead.
Tip 4: Bloody Hand is the strongest scaling life steal item in the game (T4) – plan around it on HP Regen-blocked characters like Vampire.

Life Steal FAQ

What is the Brotato Life Steal cap?

The cap is 10 HP healed per second – Life Steal can only proc once every 0.1 seconds. Once you exceed roughly 30–40% Life Steal on a fast multi-projectile weapon you start hitting that cap and additional points have diminishing returns.

Does Life Steal work on explosions and turrets?

No. Explosions, burning damage, turret hits, Cyberball, Baby Elephant and other 'indirect' damage do NOT trigger Life Steal. Only direct weapon hits (and projectiles spawned by weapons) can heal you.

Is Life Steal worth it in Brotato?

On characters with high attack speed and multiple projectiles, yes – it can replace HP Regen entirely. On slow weapons with low fire rate or single projectiles, the proc rate is too low and you'll get more value from Max HP + Regen.

What is the best Life Steal item in Brotato?

Bloody Hand (T4) is the highest-impact Life Steal item due to its scaling. For early-game value, Vampiric Adaptation and Hand of Doom give cheap, consistent percentages.
