What does Engineering do in Brotato?
Engineering is the dedicated structure stat. Turrets, landmines, gardens, and a few weapons (Plank, Screwdriver) scale off it. Critically, the other primary stats (% Damage, Crit Chance, Attack Speed) do NOT affect structures – Engineering is the only primary stat that does. Secondary stats like piercing, bouncing, and explosions DO carry over to structures, which is why specials matter so much on Engineer / Builder / Cyborg / Demon. Pile of Books unlocks crit for structures, giving Engineering builds a true scaling endgame.
Engineering Mechanics & Edge Cases
- •Other primary stats (% Damage, Crit, AS) do NOT affect structures – only Engineering does.
- •Secondary stats (piercing, bouncing, explosions, % Structure Attack Speed) DO affect structures.
- •Pile of Books unlocks crit on structures – game-changing for Engineering builds.
- •Cyborg converts Ranged Damage into Engineering halfway through each wave.
- •Builder loses 1 Engineering per equipped structure – plan around the negative scaling.
- •Plank and Screwdriver are weapons that scale their attack damage with Engineering.

Engineering FAQ
Do turrets scale with Damage in Brotato?▾
No. Engineering structures (turrets, landmines, gardens) only scale with the Engineering stat. % Damage, Crit Chance, and Attack Speed do nothing for them. Specials like piercing, bouncing, and explosions DO carry over.
Can structures crit in Brotato?▾
Only if you have Pile of Books equipped. Pile of Books unlocks crit for structures and adds +3% Crit Chance and +3 Engineering. Without it, structures cannot crit.
What is the best Engineering character in Brotato?▾
Engineer (auto-stacks Engineering at end of waves), Builder (huge Engineering up front), and Cyborg (converts Ranged Damage to Engineering mid-wave) are the top three. Demon converts Elemental Damage into structure attack speed and bonus Engineering.
Does Cyborg need Ranged Damage in Brotato?▾
Yes. Cyborg converts 100% of Ranged Damage into Engineering halfway through every wave (1 Ranged Damage = 2 Engineering). Stack RD early – it becomes Engineering for your turrets.
