Primary Stat

Brotato Range

Increases weapon reach. Ranged weapons get +x range; melee weapons get +x/2 range and slightly slower attacks.

Effect

Increases the range of your weapons by x. Ranged weapons gain the full bonus; melee weapons gain half.

Limit

No limit. All weapons have a 25 minimum range.

Negative

Reduces weapon range (halved penalty for melee). 25 range minimum.

What does Range do in Brotato?

Range determines how far your weapons can target enemies. Ranged weapons add your full Range stat to their base. Melee weapons add HALF the value but also pay a small attack-speed penalty for the longer travel distance. Negative Range hurts melee less than ranged. Range scales some weapons' damage too – Hiking Pole gains range while you walk, and Cryptid gets +100 range with Precise weapons. The Camera item turns +Damage into a Range scaling combo on Camera/Cryptid builds.

Range Mechanics & Edge Cases

  • Ranged weapons: range = your Range stat + weapon's base range.
  • Melee weapons: range = your Range stat / 2 + base. They also lose a small amount of Attack Speed.
  • All weapons enforce a 25-range minimum, even with deeply negative Range.
  • +10 Range on melee = roughly 0.01s slower attacks. +100 Range = 3–10% slower depending on weapon (Fist hardest hit).
  • Camera scales weapon damage off Range stat (use on Cryptid or extreme-range builds).

Range Tips & Strategy

Tip 1: Cryptid and Ranger are the textbook Range scalers – they make stacking Range a damage stat.
Tip 2: On melee builds, +20–40 Range is a sweet spot – more area without crippling Attack Speed.
Tip 3: Hiking Pole + Speedy = Range that grows during the wave. Underrated combo.
Tip 4: Negative Range is a cheap stat dump on tight melee builds (Brawler) – the 25 minimum protects you.

Range FAQ

How does Range work for melee weapons in Brotato?

Melee weapons gain half your Range stat as their effective range, but they pay a small Attack Speed penalty (longer travel time). Fist is hit hardest – at +100 Range it's about 10% slower. Slow melee weapons like Rock are barely affected (~3%).

What is the Brotato Range minimum?

All weapons have a hard 25 range minimum, no matter how negative your Range stat. This is why dumping Range on a Brawler isn't catastrophic.

Does Range scale damage in Brotato?

Indirectly. Camera item makes weapon damage scale off Range. Cryptid gains +1% Damage per 10 Range. Hiking Pole gains range from movement and converts it back into damage scaling.

What is the best Range weapon in Brotato?

Camera (T4) is the iconic Range-scaler. Hunting Rifle and Sniper Rifle love high Range. On Cryptid, every Range item is also a damage item.
